Need to convert a photo to PDF on your iPhone? There are several built-in ways to do this without installing any extra app. Here are all the methods, from fastest to most flexible.
Method 1: Files App (Fastest — 3 Taps)
This is the quickest method, built into iOS 15+:
- Open the Photos app
- Tap the photo you want to convert
- Tap the Share button (box with arrow, bottom left)
- Scroll down and tap Print
- Pinch outward on the print preview with two fingers — this converts it to PDF
- Tap the Share icon in the top right
- Choose Save to Files and select a location
This sounds like more steps than it is — in practice it takes about 10 seconds.
Method 2: Shortcuts App (Create a One-Tap Shortcut)
Create a reusable shortcut that converts any photo to PDF with one tap:
- Open the Shortcuts app
- Tap + to create a new shortcut
- Add action: Select Photos (or use “Share Sheet” input)
- Add action: Make PDF (search for it)
- Add action: Save File → select destination folder
- Name the shortcut “Photo to PDF”
- Add it to your Home Screen for instant access
Once set up, this is the fastest method for regular use.

- Open the Notes app
- Create a new note
- Tap the attachment icon (paperclip/camera) → Photo Library → select photo
- Tap Done
- Tap the Share button (top right of the note)
- Select Print
- Pinch out on preview → share as PDF
Method 5: Books App (Multiple Photos to PDF)
The Books app in iOS can compile multiple images into a PDF:
- Open Photos → select multiple photos
- Tap Share → scroll down → Print
- Set copies to 1, pinch out on preview
- Share → Copy to Books or Save to Files
Multiple Photos to Single PDF
To combine several iPhone photos into one PDF:
- Open Photos → tap Select → choose all photos
- Tap Share → Print
- Pinch outward on the preview
- The multi-photo print becomes a multi-page PDF
- Save to Files
Each selected photo becomes one page in the PDF.
Recommended Third-Party Apps
While you don’t need any apps, these offer extra features:
- Adobe Scan (Free) — scan + OCR, auto-crop, cloud sync
- Scanner Pro (Paid) — best quality, excellent edge detection, Dropbox integration
- Microsoft Lens (Free) — document mode for flatbed-quality results, integrates with OneDrive
